Jacob is 3 months old.

Okay, so he's actually going to be 3 months and one week old, but I've been busy. And as I mentioned in a previous post, Jacob's been doing a lot of things like talking a lot, wanting to sit up on his own, and he's found his hands. But he's also grabbing for things, and the big one...He's STTN! For those mommies, or anyone else, that don't know, STTN stands for SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT! I was going to post this in the last thread, but I didn't want to jinx it since he just started, and I thought it deserved its own post. Don't get me wrong, Jacob would sleep well through the night eating and going right back to bed without problems. But his old schedule was bedtime at 8pm, wake to eat at 1am, sleep, wake to eat at 5am, sleep, and wake for the day at 7-8am. Now he goes to bed at 8pm and wakes to eat at 5-6am, sleeps, wakes for the day at 7-8am. He even naps throughout the day! And as I said before, I can't wait to see what new milestones he's going to reach. The next one I can't wait to witness, an actual giggle.

Where to begin...

So, I've been really busy the last couple of weeks. We've been helping my older brother move into his new place. I love his new house. It's only 4 years old and in a nice, quiet community. But since he moved out, we've been moving into his old place. And his place was old. There's a lot of cleaning and painting for us to do. But I can't wait to decorate Jacob's room, my kitchen, and living room. I've got tons of ideas already. We've just started, but when we're done I'll post some "Before & After" pics.

I've also been busy with school. I have less than a month to go in my final class. After that, I need to develop my portfolio. Ack. I'm almost done getting my master's, but Jesse and I have talked about some things we want in the next couple of years, and well, we'll see how things go on my career front.

This weekend was a crazy weekend. The weather has been hot and dry, and because of this, we've had several fires in our area. It truly is scary. The fire started in Corona, where Jess happens to work, and spread to Yorba Linda/Anaheim Hills where my cousin and his family live (they had to evacuate), then it went into Brea which is just the next city over, and is now moving into Diamond Bar and Chino Hills. I'm familiar with all of these places. They're either places I've been to regularly or have roads I used often. Actually, there is a hilly area (off Harbor Blvd/Fullerton Rd) just a few miles from my house, and with the fires being ridiculously close, there are fire engines parked on this hill just watching and making sure nothing happens. But when things like this happen, so close to home, you start to ask yourself, "What would I take with me if I had 5 minutes to get as much as I could?" Well first, my son. Then, my personal belongings, some memory stuff, and my computer hard drive. Everything else is replaceable. However, it's upsetting to think of one's belongings going up in flames, it just gives me chills thinking about it. I think I would be so depressed. And with the fires being so close, the air is horrendous. There's ash everywhere outside, and not just the little, snowflake ash but the big chunks. We did have the chance to get away for a little bit by going to my older brother's new house. It was bright and sunny at his place. Here are some pics of what we saw the first day of the fire...

And last, but certainly not least, Jacob has turned 3 months. He is no longer a newborn, but an infant. He's getting bigger every week, and it's remarkable to see and notice his new developmental achievements. He's found his hands and loves to munch on them. He talks up a storm when given the chance. He can turn over on his own, and I'm sure by next month he'll start walking. Okay, that last one is not exactly true, but hey, what can I say? He seems so ahead of the game. At the moment, he hates laying down, and loves to sit up like a big boy. I've tried to put him in his Bumbo chair, but after a few minutes, he tries to squirm out. I can't wait to see what the next month brings and witness it all...

Sittin' like a big boy...

Halloween Recap.

Jacob was a monkey for Halloween! We got him dressed around 5:30p and we're out trick-or-treating by 6p. We only made it to a couple of houses before he conked out. One house said he looked like Monchichi. And he wasn't too thrilled about the costume and neither was I. We had fur everywhere. But we can't wait 'til next Halloween!

Our Halloween festivities actually started the weekend before the holiday. My cousins threw a Halloween party with a really cool set up. They built their own haunted maze. I didn't go in 'cause I'm a chicken and Jess didn't want to go in. Also, unfortunately, Jess and I didn't dress up. I was just not in the mood, but Jacob, sort of, dressed up. He was a little grumpy from the lack of napping, but we managed to get something on him.
