Jacob's crib...

a la MTV. Welcome to Jacob's room. His is the only room that is 98% done. The kitchen is in second place at 95% done, but our room, the living room, and the other bathroom, are a ways from being completely done. As I finish each, I will post before and after pics. So why is Jacob's room only 98% done? Well I have to buy a small table and I need to organize his closet. But all in all, I think his room came out great. In his room we removed the wallpaper and repainted, replaced the carpet and all the wall switches, and redid the fan.

Mmm, mmm, good...

We've started Jacob on solids. He did well on cereal for a couple of weeks, but this week I decided to try something better. This week, and probably next week, we'll be working on our green veggies. So far he's had green beans and peas. We started them at lunch on Monday, the 19th, and the green beans got off to a rocky start. He tried them and made a face, and basically spit out whatever was in his mouth. But I didn't give up. We tried again at dinnertime and he ate a couple of table spoons. We also started him on peas, and he made a face, but kept right on chowing down. Tonight, for dinner, he ate the whole bowl, which is probably a little over 2 oz. Am I surprised he eats so well? I don't think so! Something told me he'd be a great eater. We also got Jacob a highchair. Before, meals were given to him in his Bumbo, but he figured out how to squirm out of it, so we had to get a highchair right away. Luckily, this weekend we hit up Babies 'R' us to get a chair and stock up on some other stuff. I also hit up Costco and found the cutest onesies. I bought Jacob some Dr. Seuss onesies. I've been wanting these things forever. Actually since about July. I'd seen them in an online boutique, but they always had the wrong color or the wrong size, and each onesie cost about $20 each! Well I got 2 pairs of onesies, and each pair was only $9.99! I also got a tip from another blogger that Target had some decent clearance stuff in children's, so I hit up target, too and I got him the Fisher Price musical zoo for only $35, regularly $50. It was a good shopping weekend.

Mmm, green beans...

We're hoping to break it out soon...

My big boy Jacob.

Jacob is 5 months old today! I can't believe how fast time flies. I feel like I just had him a few months ago. But he's becoming a big boy, in more ways than one. He had his 4 month baby wellness check-up last Friday. BTW, he was practically 5 months old and they kept referring to him as a 4 month old, that really annoyed me. Anywho, his appointment went rather well. Jacob now weighs 19 pounds (92%) and is 26.25 (75%) inches long. We also started him on cereal. We had tried when he turned 4 months but he wasn't quite ready. He is now! We're now on our second week of cereal. The Doc agreed he was ready. And he took his shots like a champ. He only cried for a few moments and went on chomping on his pacifier. I was very proud, and very anxious about his shots. His Baptism was just a few days away and I had no idea how he'd be, but no worries.

Jacob's Baptism went off without a hitch. The mass was at 3 pm and we had a small celebration at my parent's house afterward. There was a total of 7 babies getting Baptized along with Jacob. Only one of them cried the whole 30 minutes, but Jacob did quite well despite it being his nap time. He whined a little here and there, but never broke out into a true cry. And at the very end of the ceremony he fell asleep in Daddy's arms. Jacob's godparents are my sister Liza and my older brother Junior. They really helped us out with everything, especially my sister. She always goes above and beyond, and she really made it a special day for Jacob. We had appetizers, 'cause we knew we'd all be starving, and for dinner we had ziti from Lascari's (Jess' is way better!) with salad and garlic bread, and a yummy cake. It was really nice to sit and chat with close family and friends.

Happy New Year!

I know I'm a little late, but hey, it's better late than never, right? Here's to a fab 2009! However, our new year did not start with a bang. We spent new years eve at my brother's and it was boring. The guys played poker while the girls chatted in front of the TV. I spent most of my night fighting to get Jacob down to sleep. His bedtime is usually around 8 or 9pm, but because of the loud music and everybody talking, he could not stay asleep. I was so exhausted by the time midnight came around I wanted to go home. Friday we pretty much vegged, but our weekend was spent fixing our apartment up. I would say we're about 85% done. The kitchen's finished, Jacob's room is practically done, now we need to finish the den/dining room. It's slow going, but we're getting there.

And next weekend Jacob will be baptized. We'll have a small dinner party after mass to celebrate. Jacob will also have a wellness baby check-up just a few short days before, and I'm hoping he's not grumpy. We've not been to the doctor since his 2 month appointment on October 20th, but I have good reason. We are seeing a new doctor. I really hope I like this doctor, since my first choice doctor isn't accepting new patients. I was, and still am, bummed.

So besides getting off to a bit of a rocky new year, I'm looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for us.

I took some lame pictures for news years, so I'm sharing some of Jacob and my cupcakes I made for new years:

I have to explain this pic. Jacob's hair is falling out, and it's really short on the back of his head, but if you look at the sides of his head, his hair is really long and it looks funny. One of my brothers, and everyone else, wants to give him a haircut to make it even!

This picture makes me laugh. He's like, "WTH are you looking at, mom?"
