Our 2nd Anniversary...
was exactly one week ago today on October 20th. Unfortunately, due to circumstances (Jacob being sick) and with good reason, we did not end up celebrating on the day of. However, we will soon, but our day was spent resting and recuperating. And I have a video! Please excuse the quality. This is a video of a video. Actually a video of our highlights DVD. I don't know why I didn't think of this before. Anywho, enjoy!

My poor bub...
It's been a hard and exhausting week! Monday night Jacob had a febrile seizure. It was around 9:30 in the evening and he was in his crib. I was keeping an eye (and ear) on him on our video monitor (btw, thank goodness for that), and I noticed that he was making a noise I'd never heard before and I looked at the monitor and noticed his body was moving in a way that I'd never seen before. I knew immediately something was wrong and I just yelled for Jess to run to get him. I followed and as soon as I saw him, I cried, not the best move, but it's all I could do. Jess ran with Jacob to my parent's house (next door) and I called 911, and of course my sister, they were all here in just a couple of minutes. Three police cars, 2 fire trucks and an ambulance. The EMTs came in and did their thing and Jacob's temp was at 103 degrees. Crazy considering we were just playing, as usual, just before he went to bed. No signs, no nothing. The ride to the ER was quick, a total of 5 minutes but everything from the start of the seizure to our ride to the ER, felt like an eternity when in fact it was all done relatively quickly.
Once at the ER Jacob was given some meds, and had some tests performed, and we had to wait. Wait for the results of the test and to see if and when he would come out of his haze. He recovered quickly. He was talking and reacting to us within an hour, but he continued to be weak and extremely lethargic. He did really well in the ER and we received the results which were normal. Yay! But we still continue to wonder what caused his fever, it's scary to know that just a few hours before he was playing and laughing like nothing was bothering him to seeing him have seizure...It scares me every time I think about it.
Three days later, and Jacob is doing really well, as you can tell from the pictures below. His appetite is back, he wants to play with his toys, he's walking better, and he's talking up a storm. His fever lasted for about 2 days and finally broke last night just before 7 pm, and it hasn't returned. Such relief. These have been some of the hardest days of my life. Ever. And there's a small chance that this will happen again, but we're hoping and praying that this will be his last and only one. Thank you to those out there who kept us in your thoughts and prayers. THANK YOU!

Scariest night of my life...

What's he watching?
Jacob has more than a couple of favorite TV shows. As a matter of fact he has 3 favorite shows, and they involve some well known characters. His most favorite show is Yo Gabba Gabba, and every time someone walks in on us him watching it they always roll their eyes. It's a little different from other children's shows out there, but he REALLY likes it, and I do too! We even have a schedule. He knows that he's going to watch it after lunch. He even says something that sounds like "yabba yabba." Coming in at a close second is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Jacob has always liked Mickey, ever since he was just a bub of a few months. He always points him out and lights up at the sight of him. He can't quite say Mickey Mouse but he can do a mean dance to the Hot Dog song. And finally, there's Sesame Street, actually more specifically he loves Elmo's World. And just like Mickey's Clubhouse, he dances to Elmo's song and can point him out. It's the funniest thing to see him perk up and groove to these shows. We already have quite a collection of episodes of each show on our DVR and we've started a DVD collection. However, corresponding toys have not made a full blown presence as I assume will gradually occur within the next few years when Christmas and birthdays roll around. Where am I going to put everything?!
And just because I think this picutre is hilarious, waking up on the wrong side of the crib (aka in a bad mood...Maybe 'cause of the hair)...
Yo Gabba Gabba finger puppets from Jack in the Box.
Jess went to a couple to find all 5 characters...
Playing with his mini beach ball...
Playing with his Corn Popper and blabbing about something...

A few of his favorite things...
Jacob has a couple of key toys he plays with on a daily basis and some that, technically, are not toys, but he enjoys them just the same. He's obsessed with his cell phone (aka Jess' old phone) and the remote. He has a play cell phone and a play remote, but would rather play with the real thing. He carries his phone all around the house and he points the remote at the TV to try to change it. I presume he'd rather watch Yo Gabba Gabba than the news. It's so funny to see him "use" these items. He gets so into it. Then there's the actual toys. He loves his corn popper. It took him awhile to figure out that you had to push it to make it pop, and for awhile he would just carry the thing around instead of push it. Poor thing would get frustrated. And at least once a day he has to put on his shades. I remember at the beginning of summer he would have no part of these, but now he'll keep them on for a bit. But you have to say "woo hoooo" so he can keep them on. Jacob still loves books too. He loves to "read" them. He actually looks and sounds like he's reading them. Jacob's also become a ham. He knows now that after we take a picture he can see it, so he waits for me to take the picture and turn the camera around to see the picture. He then remarks with an "awww." Yes he says "awww," but he also says it for any picture of himself or a baby. These really are the fun times. I'm rediscovering stuff I once took for granted like stopping to smell the roses and feeling the texture of leaves and grass, but now I just take in everything along with Jacob.

A month of ghosts and ghouls.
I love the month of October. The weather starts cooling down, scary TV shows start popping up, and it means the holiday season is just around the corner. One thing I've always wanted to do is throw a costume party, and one day I will. But I'm excited to spend Jacob's second Halloween actually trick-o-treating. And since it falls on a Saturday, we are going to have a little get together with my little cousins. In preparation for this spooky month, I've done some small projects. I wanted a wreath for our front door and I put one together for only $3! The wreath was $4 - 50%off = $2 and the ghost was $1! I really wanted to do this cool Halloween ribbon wreath I found in another blog, but the ribbon alone would be like $10. My sis recently bought me a Micky-o-lantern and I placed it on our table. It was too short for the table, so I wanted a cake stand. But I didn't want to spend more than $10, so I made one. I bought a plate and a bowl at the dollar store, spray painted them black, and glued them together and *tahdah* a $2 cake stand! The dollar store is awesome for decorations. If I had a bigger house I would have bought up the whole store. I found a ton of stuff that I would have loved to use, but with a toddler running around and grabbing everything, it's not gonna happen. Anywho, here they are...
And just because...
